Selecting lines to delete?

Selecting lines to delete?

(OP)
Hello, I am using AutoCAD Mechanical (not Mechanical Desktop).  I use to be able to type E on the command line to start erasing objects, I try to drag a window around the lines but it does not select the lines.  I can window from right to left, left to right, partial select and window around everything, but nothing selects.

Is there a setting that has be changed?

Thanks!

if you are trying to pick lines in the defpoints layer and the 0 layer is turned off then you'll encounter this problem just in case.

Set your system variable HIGHLIGHT to 1.

Lock your workstation when you are away from your desk.

Pass protect your workstation's system startup.
