(OP)
what type of college education do you need to become somebody who works a water fitration plant? What do you do on a daily basis? What type of engineering is involed?

RE: water filtration

Your question is a bit open-ended. Most large municipal water filtration or treatment plants work 24 hours a day.

If you simply want to be a plant operator, you must be prepared to do shift work since there are operators at the plant for 3 shifts per day of 8 hours each. A good high school education is very probably all that is needed to qualify for a job as an operator.

If you want to be involved in the technical end of the plant or in a management position, then you will very probably need a college degree. In that case, your best bet
is either chemical engineering or civil/environmental engineering.

RE: water filtration

water eng., Depends upon what State or Nation you reside in. Here in Illinois there are various classes of License issued by the State depending on the type of treatment process's involved. Like the PE Exam, one is required to show academic credentials as well as number of years of experience, then the State will allow you to take the License exam (it's pass/fail).

Check with your local authorities as to what is required.

Good Luck!
