How does a Clutch bearing work?
How does a Clutch bearing work?
(OP)
Hi Guys:
I'm a EE ( sorry!) trying to understand how roller clutch bearings work. Knon of any sites that have a "how to" on these parts?
I have a Torrington roller clutch on a piece of old exersize equipment that in now "slipping" ( backlash?) in the torque direction.
I'm not sure if the bearing is shot or I just need to re-pack it or lub it, something
I found replacement parts on the web, but I'm not sure if the current part is bad or in need of maintenance.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Ralph

The bearings were working well before but now are slipping. So I assume all the alignment ands upport were ok at one time.
Can these types of bearings wear out over years of use?
If so can I just replace them and hope for the best. Or do I need to turn down new shafts and replace all parts not just the bearings.
Thanks
Ralph
