Is there such a plot style for civil drawings?
I am working on a huge drawing for renovating and adding on to an existing building. The drawing has electrical, mechanical, architectural and civil incorporated into it. A new CAD guy said we should plot everything in Greyscale, but utilizing a color dependent plot style. He worked for a large architectural firm before and they had a standard table used in all design drawings. I am from the mechanical (machine design) field and did not use the civil standards before.
In the past, we printed in color, but the new DOE likes B&W/greyscale.
Also, are there standard layers or templates which will accommodate the plot style?

Most generally, I have copied an ACAD .ctb file as a template and modified it to fit the standard colors used in the drawing. The reason for this is that for one firm a red line might be a 2" pipe, while for another it might be a 1/2" pipe. You probably wouldn't want both to print the same width.
Anyway, it is quite easy to modify:
-open the copy of the .ctb file that you want to modify
-choose "table view"
-find the colors that you typically use for standard layers
-under "color" choose black
-"enable dithering" on
-"convert to grayscale" off
-your pen # will depend on your plotter, but most generally I use 7 for large doc plotting.
-"screening" at 100 for black lines, adjust down for grey lines
-"linetype" use object linetype
-"adaptive adjustment" off
-choose your desired line weight for all lines of that color to print
-select "use object" for the remaining options
As long as you have created a copy of the .ctb to modify, you can change it as much as you want to get things to print as you like.
In your ACAD drawing you will need to type "convertpstyles" at the command line in order to be able to see your .ctb if you are currently using .stb files.
