Could someone please explain to me why you can not place an ordinate dimension from an AltPosView to a normal view?

Is this as setting issue or just a fact that the program will not allow you to do this?

RE: Alternate Position View

You could not do this in SW05 either. Sounds like a limitation to me.

RE: Alternate Position View

Alternate position is used with assembly models. With an assembly you can have a laternate position. Have you ever seen a drawing that shows one item in one place and that same item in another place on the drawing? That can be done in SW too. The alternate position is shown in Phantom lines. His problem is he wants to dimension to that phantom lined item. YOu can find hte icon in hte help "Alternate position". You must have an assembly drawing up that has a moveable piece that can change positions.

Thanks for the input Scott... I was going insane trying to dimension to those phantom lines. I have convinced managment that on alternate view drawing like that we will have to settle for linear dimensions rather than datum dims.
