Auto Generate Wiring Diagrams

Auto Generate Wiring Diagrams

Auto Generate Wiring Diagrams

(OP)
I would like to be able to automatically generate wiring diagrams by pulling information (tag numbers, terminal block numbers, etc.) from an excel spreadsheet and placing this information into attributed blocks within a wiring diagram template drawing.  Does anyone have a good resource (book, website, etc.) that may help me figure out how to do this? It would be nice to manage information in a spreadsheet and then autogenerate the wiring diagrams at the end of the job.  Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Auto Generate Wiring Diagrams

What you need to do is to write VBA program that will extract information from excel and insert into ACAD file.  Two good books on the subject:  Using Visual Basic with Autocad, second edition by Andrew G. Roe, Thormson Learning, copyright 2001 and Mastering VBA 6, Guy Hart-Davis, Sybex Inc. copyright 2000.  Hope this helps.

RE: Auto Generate Wiring Diagrams

I don't know this for sure, but I think there is a link between INTools and AutoCad. INTools is an instrument index package, which would contain the tag names, termination information, wiring, etc. With the connection to AutoCad, generating the wiring diagrams should be straight forward.

Like I said, I can't say for sure, but it may be worth checking out.
