Please help...

I remember using some quick release nut on various fixtures. The nut had a tapped hole of some appropriate thread with a second thru hole drilled at an angle (approx. 20 deg). The result was half of the threads missing on oppsosite sides at opposite ends of the threaded hole. Turn the nut half a turn and you could slide it over and off the threads.

Does anyone know what the angle of the second hole should be?

Thanks

Jon

RE: quick release nut

You could buy one from McMaster-Carr or Carr-lane and see how they do it.  For many folks that would be cheaper (but maybe less satisfying ) than reckoning it out with CAD or ciphers.

RE: quick release nut

If Mcmaster-Carr carries them, you might be able to get a CAD model of it off their website.

Everything should be designed as simple as possible, but not simpler.
