SW2005 convert to dxf too many entities

SW2005 convert to dxf too many entities

(OP)
Hi
I'm trying to export text from Solidworks 2005 to a dxf (or dwg) for use as a toolpath, which works alright, except that acad creates hundreds of entities (short arcs, lines, etc...) along the linepaths, which doesn't work with my machine. Is there some way to clean it up?
I've tried using pedit (spline, joint, fit) and it seems to make no difference. Actually spline probably would, but it skews the sharp corners out of proportion, which is not acceptable. Is there an SW setting that needs to be changed, or is this an Acad issue? Help!!

RE: SW2005 convert to dxf too many entities

It is a DXF issue, always has been. I have never found a clean way to do it.
