Anyone have a SpacePilot yet?

Anyone have a SpacePilot yet?

Anyone have a SpacePilot yet?

(OP)
I just received a 3DConnexion SpacePilot from their eval program.  All I can say about this is shocked!!

The spacepilot is smoother, more ergo, and has all the right buttons you could ever need.  Just like all of the other 3dconnexion products it's fully mappable.  Even though the buttons have t,l,r,f for certain views you can make em anything you want.

Goto http://www.3dconnexion.com and get in there eval prog and show your boss the cool lcd screen and he'll buy you one.  The site also has an ROI (return on investment) calculator where you can punch in your salary and productivity increase, etc.

RE: Anyone have a SpacePilot yet?

Haven't tried the SpacePilot, but tried the SpaceTraveler at a trade show. I didn't like the ergonomics of the puck so much. I have a SpaceBall 4000 & really dig it! I can't imagine a puck being better than a ball.

I've actually got a 4000 FLX as well, and had used the spacemouse in the past, which wasn't too terrible, although not as good as the ball.  3dconnexion actually took the best points from both the spaceball and the spacemouse and shot out a baby called spacepilot.  Although the $499 pricetag is a little of a shocker, I'm hoping the boss will pick it up.

I think it's been said, but you can usually find these items much cheaper on eBay.  Of course, as usual, caveat emptor.

RE: Anyone have a SpacePilot yet?

I've been using the SpacePilot for almost 6 months now.  I will never go back.

RE: Anyone have a SpacePilot yet?

Hi

I have been using a SpacePilot at work for a few weeks now, and found it to be really good. The LCD screen and blue LED'S are gimmicks really, once in use you tend not to look at the LCD screen much, as you know where the buttons are after a while.
I wanted one for home but could not afford the expense, but I found a brand new SpaceMouse Plus on ebay for £50, this is also pretty good and you would not be dissapointed if you can only get one of those.

That's about what I figured... but didn't want to say it. It's good to have it confirmed.
I'm gonna have to get a second SpaceBall & IntelliMouse I think... Getting tired of lugging these between work & home-biz. I worry they're gonna get damaged. Maybe I just need a $7 pistol case for them... idea
