Can anyone explain the proper operation of a hansen AP-8 air purger and how to tell if its working prpperly.Any advice or information would be appreciated.

RE: hansen AP-8 ammonia air purger

First measure the temperature and pressure at some point in the system to see if you have non-condensible gases in the system. Hansen has very good web site that has the manuals for most of their products. It's www.hantech.com
I work for a ammonia refrigeration design build contractor and the most common failure I've seen with the Hansen purgers has been the check valves wearing out. A word of warning the time it takes the purger to go through a cycle can be long.
