What should i do to read data from ascii files using VBA? I want to read the data and make a variable have the value i've read.

RE: Read data from ascii files using VBA

It depends on how the data is layed out in the file.

'Read One Line at a time
Dim sVal As String
Open ("C:\YourFile.txt") For Input As #1
    Do While Not EOF(1)
        Line Input #1,sVal
        MsgBox sVal
    Loop
Close #1

'Read a delimited file (2 columns of data)
Dim sVal1 As String,sVal2 As String
Open ("C:\YourFile.txt") For Input As #1
    Do While Not EOF(1)
        Input #1,sVal1,sVal1
        MsgBox sVal1 & vbCrLf & sVal2
    Loop
Close #1

The latter method can use any variable type. If you could provide more detail about the file you are trying to read I can whip up a better sample.
