Implement a design code in SAP2000?

(OP)
Is it possible to implement a certain design code in SAP2000? i need to implement data from some Romanian design codes. Also material data bases.
Thanks.

RE: Implement a design code in SAP2000?

Probably not.. Your best shot would be to compare the results from another similar code and then change the parameters to match your code. Are you talking about steel?

As for material list, you can define new materials in the define menu. Also there is a "material list.ssf" text file which you could probably manipulate automatically.

RE: Implement a design code in SAP2000?

popabf, you would have to write your own program for design calculations. But since version 8, SAP's input and output databases are fully open, which should make that task a little easier.

One other suggestion.. the guys at CSI have added several special request features into SAP for us over the years, so why not formally request them to implement your design code and section libraries into SAP? If you offer to help them with questions that come up during the implementation, I wouldn't be surprised if they added it for you. Probably best to make such a request through the normal support@csiberkeley.com support email address
