"User Specified Name" in Design Tables

"User Specified Name" in Design Tables

"User Specified Name" in Design Tables

(OP)
Hello All,

Does anyone know if it is possible to link the "user specified name" in a design table. If so, how do I go about doing it. I have multiple configuartions of a part/assembly and each user specified name is different.
(ex: 1010-01,1010-02,etc.)

I have done a search within this forum and looked through the FAQ's and could not find anything for this particular discussion.

Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,
Jon

RE: "User Specified Name" in Design Tables

I don't think you can. The "User Specified Name" feature is for BOM use only.

The parameter you want is $PARTNUMBER

RE: "User Specified Name" in Design Tables

When creating design tables, I find it best to manually create two configurations.  One with all the special stuff you want (specific dimensions changed, config specific custom properties, user specified name).  The other config can be generic.  Then insert the design table.  It will prompt you to add whichever properties you want and dimensions that are unique between the existing configs.  Pick all the things you want.  Then using the design table, add all the rest of the configs.

(Deep Sigh) ... I stand corrected. I never use that feature & when I tried it, it did not appear to work. After Regg's post I tried again & it did.

Thanks Regg.

Shaggy18VW ... That's normally what I do. I didn't this time because I was rushing, which is probably why it didn't work. sad
