FEM on soil dynamics

FEM on soil dynamics

FEM on soil dynamics

(OP)
I am currently using abaqus 6.2 to model a soil structure so as to analyse how wave propagates in soil that are caused by vehicles on the road. I am analyzing it using a 2D model

Does anyone out there knows how to simulate a viscous boundary using abaqus6.2 so
that the waves are absorbed instead of being reflected back at the boundary line?

RE: FEM on soil dynamics

Use "infinite elements". Do a search on this phrase in the ABAQUS User's Manual.  I think this is what you are looking for.
