hi,
I'm trying to arrange some objects along an arch using a polar array. I think I need some fundamental clarification about the polar array dialog box.
1. I created an arc
2. I've arranged the first set of objects in position at the beginning of the arc, ready for copying along it.
3. I've put a point at the arc's center for reference.
4. I've run rays to the "start" and "end" point of the objects to be copied and trimmed the rays with the arc (i.e. array path) to have a reference angle between object, and the distance between objects in the array.
Here is where my trouble begins... I guess what I really need is some detailed instructions on how to create polar arrays. I find the Autocad Help doesn't seem to address the parts that confuse me.
One question I have is, when you elect "angle between objects" on screen, you are only allowed to pick a single point. I would expect you would pick two points in order to define the angle between array origin and 2 points along an arc. If you only pick one, where is the other reference point referenced by autocad?
I have a similar issue with regard to picking "distance between objects".
If anyone can help me understand this a little better, I'd appreciate it, or if you know of a good step-by-step-with-explanation source you could refer me to.

You must either set up a reference line from zero to pick your angle, or simply type in the angle desired, rather than pick a point. This is probably easiest. Measure the angle desired, (or distance desired) and type that in. Positive will go counterclockwise, negative will go clockwise.

That is essentially the answer I was looking for. So I guess if you have 2 objects to array, and they don't happen to be on the 0 - 180 degree axis, you'd have to create a reference angle from 0 degrees in order to pick you angle on screen.
I always prefer to do that rather that type in numbers unless the geometry is particularly obvious.
Well, now to try it out.
