Fuel gas to HP steam

Fuel gas to HP steam

Fuel gas to HP steam

(OP)
Any quick estimate figure of how much fuel gas (ton) to produce 1 tone of HP steam (44 barg and 400 C).
Fuel gas composition can be assumed to be 82.7 mol%C1,5 mol%C2, and 12 nol%N2
(I know that there is a way of finding heating value of the steam and calculate the required fuel fired but I think some of you can give quick estimate by better way of calculations)
Any help is appreciated

Cheers

RE: Fuel gas to HP steam

I think in Imperial measurements, so you'll have to convert. This will get you a decent estimate. Most industrial boilers are about 80% eff. They'll add about 1,000 BTU to each pound of feedwater to make steam. Natural gas has about 1,000 BTU/cubic foot. For every pound of steam produced by an 80% eff boiler, you'll have to supply about 1,250 BTU of fuel.

If your boiler is more eff, just plug that number in, rather than the 80%.

RE: Fuel gas to HP steam

A more exact estimation could be made if your gas composition added up to 100%.

Thank you TBP
I got close to your figures with assuming 85% efficiency
and with LHV of NG of 40591 KJ/kg.

Cheers
