Burst my Balloons

Burst my Balloons

Burst my Balloons

(OP)
Dear Folks;

I have a SW 2006 SP2.1 assembly drawing showing an industrial fan with electric motor, an inlet box and associated ductwork. The fan and motor are a single assembly so that when you balloon them, they show up as a single item. Everything else in the assembly shows up as a seperate item as required.

I would like to show the fan and motor as seperate ballooned items without taking the motor out of its assembly. (The motor is part of a top-down assembly which drives the fan belt guard and sheaves depending on nema frame size and fan size.)

Is their any simple way to do this without losing associativity and maintaining bill of material relationhip. I know I can use custom numbers in the balloons but then the relationship to the bill will be broken.

Merry Christmas to all !, and many thanks

RE: Burst my Balloons

You cannot make a bill of a Sub-assembly with all the components at th main assembly level. You would have to place the sub-assembly into the drawing itself then BOM and Balloon it.

I guess you could make a main assembly Config & Suppress all the un-needed components and BOM it that away and use Indeneted Assemblies -Show numbering then Balloon it.

You can do this within the same drawing sheet if you need to.

RE: Burst my Balloons

Also, you could try to Dissolve-subassy and that will place the component parts on the same level as your Top Level assembly.

RE: Burst my Balloons

Set your BOM to show PARTS ONLY. It's in the TABLE PROPERTIES. If I understand you... that should do it. I do it all the time. The motor & fan are in a "sub-assembly"... right? If not - then Scott's right.

Dear TateJ and all;

Thanks for your help. Parts only is the simple solution I was looking for.

Best Regards
