Hello i have a quick question for you guys if don't mind answering it.

I opened a existing PLC5 program and then saved it as a different name and made some modifications and now that i've saved it. The new file i made the changes to is smaller then the original. The original is 1042KB and the new one i made modifications to is 746KB is this a normal thing or did something not save maybe.

Thanks alot in advance for your help

RE: RSLogix 5

I think this is probably normal.

I know that with Logix5000 there is a "compact" instruction under the "File" pulldown menu, which allows you to compact the database.  This can reslut in file size reductions like you mentioned.

I don't happen to have Logix5 installed at the moment, but my guess is that when you created a new file, by saving as a different filename, the database was compacted.

RE: RSLogix 5

whenn you open the program, does it look Right? Documentation, I/O, the ladder or ladders itself, ect.?

Yeah the program looks fine. It is probably just something that happenes.

Thanks alot for your input

RE: RSLogix 5

This happens in RSLOGIX 500 as well when you do a save as it cleans up the revision notes and history of the file.

RE: RSLogix 5

The program, when "saved as" saves only the offline program.
It does not contain the online image, which may only be created once the program is downloaded to a processor and online save adds the online image.
