Something similar is similar in the archives under "thread 237-74246 ".
We will be buying a few basic 1800 rpm 125 or 150 Hp motors and VFD drives over the next year. I'd like to include (reputation) for reliabilty in the mix used to make the choice.
Either Favorites or un-favorites gratefully accepted. Specifics, including models and failure modes would be helpful too.
Thanks,
Dan Timberlake

16 pc replaced under warranty
2 power units repaired by staff
2 I/O boards replaced by staff
2 controller units replaced by staff
41 cooling fans repaced by staff
Don't know hw this compares to other brands/ types, but I feel they have performed quite well, apart from a bit annoying cooling fan consumption...
I might be wrong, but have been told same units are or have been sold under following brands: Toshiba, Honeywell, Eaton - Cutler Hammer, Schneider, Rockwell.

The rules of this bbs precludes promoting or denegrading any particular brand so your request cannot be dealt with in any specific way.
However, in general, if I were you, I would check around my geographical area and ask the same question of users close to you.
You see, the "best" may not be good for you if the local support is poor or non-existent or 500 miles away. "Best", in my opinion means equipment with a reputation at least in the upper half of the reputation spectrum and then excellent local support.
You cannot learn fast enough to be an expert in every type of equipment and technology in your plant. Go with a brand that can help you when you need it.

Taking a step back, I see your advice a lot more useful than my post...
