(OP)
Can anyone suggest a robust commercially available line sizing software program for use in refining applications. I am looking for capabilities to include single and two phase flow, steady state as well as transients. Applications within a refinery is desired. At this time I am not looking for long transmission pipe line application software, i.e., crude oil or gas pipe lines.

RE: commercial software - single and two phase flow

Try Applied Flow Technology:

http://www.aft.com/

They have a suite of programs suitable for most practical situations.

RE: commercial software - single and two phase flow

I always use the HYSYS line sizing utility.

RE: commercial software - single and two phase flow

If its just line sizing your average process simulator (proII, HYSYS, Design II etc) will do the job just fine. For distributed networks you should look into something more suoted for this. I have used flowmaster for a number of year and its quite good for single phase gas and liquids - but dont handle multiphase sad

Best regards

Morten
