Flat spring design

(OP)
Please can anyone help urgently.
I need to design a flat spring that will keep a circular object in place on a metal casting. It needs to be in the form of a three arm spring with each arm providing constant force, however I can not find any formula etc that will help me design it - Help please
Cheers
Parsnip

RE: Flat spring design

Good luck, Ive seen designs of that type, they generally dont work as effectively as you would think. There are other designs that can do what you need. Try and find someone who makes these and see if they have any engineering services. Hopefully you need a large # if you need fatigue performance, stamping ususally produces the best parts.

RE: Flat spring design

Hi Parsnip

The book Spring Design by Berry as a good section on calculating flat and shaped springs in rectangular spring material.
If you give us more detail in what you are trying to do we may be able to help you further (ie;-physical size of circular object, mass, material and position of supporting springs:-horizontal or vertical, finally any enviromental conditions.
