Part Pattern - Feature Removal

Part Pattern - Feature Removal

Part Pattern - Feature Removal

(OP)
I have a panel part which I want to pattern in an assembly. The panel has a number of cuts in it and has worked well for some time as part of largish assembly with numerous equations, DT's and mates controlling it. The problem is that now our design team would like to add a new cut only to the first part in the pattern (i.e. the part that was patterned) Is there any way or workaround to pattern a part and remove the features that were present in the 1st part from the patterned parts. Thanks in advance.

RE: Part Pattern - Feature Removal

Try dissolving the pattern and the other ones will no more depend on the first part for their identities. But I should mention here that you might have to go through mating the parts in some cases. Let me know if it works. I will let you know if I can think of anything else.

If the part is configured, you can change the configuration of the patterned parts to be different from the seed part.

RE: Part Pattern - Feature Removal

Since it is a cut you want to make you could do that at the assembly level, not in the part.  Then the cut would only affect the part you put in it on.

Hsrik - Dissolving the pattern isn't an option as the overall length of the device is controlled by an equation which drives the qty of panels used. If I disolve the pattern that eqn will no longer work. Regg - Configurations may be the only solution to this. Mncad - I think if you put the cut in at the assembly level it won't show up in the part model or the part drawing. These panels will be going to the cnc press for cutting so that ain't an option either.

Thanks all for the replies - keep them coming if possible!
