extract faces from model??

extract faces from model??

extract faces from model??

(OP)
I constructed a part utilizing various features including complex lofts with guide curves. The part is similar to an  oilpan with a contoured oddly shaped bottom, it has uniform thickness throughout. The model looks like a formed deep-drawn sheetmetal part.
Here is my question. Is there a way I can extract just a surface of the entire model? Ideally the surface would be at the neutral bend position. lets say at the midpoint of its thickness. Then I can process this surface model with other software to come up with a theoretical flat blank shape.

Thanks,
Tom...

RE: extract faces from model??

Copy the surface of interest using offset surface with offset of zero.  Blank the solid body, then select a face of the surface body.  Do a "Save as" to parasolid.  You will be prompted whether to save only the selected body or the entire part.

RE: extract faces from model??

Create a set of surfaces using the Offset Surface function, then hide the body.

cheers
