I'm trying to calculate the total head for a pump in a simple system i'm designing to pump water through a nozzle, I know the static head and the friction head but i'm just wondering if anyone knows how to calculate the nozzle head loss. The system is quite simple, the pipe is 150mm NS and the nozzle is 40mm NS.

Assistance or ideas will be appreciated.

depends on the type of nozzle.  discharge coefficient C for a typical nozzle is about 0.805 where Q = Ca(2gh)^.5

Cameron Hydraulic Data book will give you the different nozzle or orifice coefficients.
