OK to uninstall SW2005 after installing SW2006 as new installation?
OK to uninstall SW2005 after installing SW2006 as new installation?
(OP)
Back when I installed SW2006, I installed it as a new installation and left my old SW2005 in place for my customizations to be carried over. Are there any problems in removing or uninstalling SW2005? Which way is best?
Thanks!

This is the way I have done it at work on all the engg workstations and at home. Go to control panel and uninstall 2005. Still it would not remove all the folders. Then physically delete the soldiworks folder from your program files. Then do a new install for 2006.

Example:
C:\program files\Solidworks06
This away you don't get confused on which folder you want to remove after you uninstall.

Now that 2006 seems to have been running fine for some time, I went ahead and uninstalled 2005 and deleted its folder in Program Files on my home PC. If all goes well, I'll be doing the same on my work PC soon.
Thanks!
