2d correlation

2d correlation

2d correlation

(OP)
I am writing a program in matlab that will do simple motion detection.  This is relatively new to me and i keep coming across the term 2d correlation when doing research.  Can anyone possibly explain what this terminology means and possibly suggest a better alterative.

thanks jon

RE: 2d correlation

I think you are trying to match a 2d shape in different frames. So it could move rotate or scale.

I don't have the faintest idea how to efficiently calculate that.

The one dimensional case is called correlation, it is used in audio processing. You might have some luck in a DSP text.

RE: 2d correlation

What class is this for?

If you didn't get the image processing toolbox, the 2d correlation function is not available.
