Exploded views in UG NX3

Exploded views in UG NX3

Exploded views in UG NX3

(OP)
I was wondering the easiest way to create an exploded view in UG NX3.  I'm not sure if there is a explode button or if I should basically move parts such as in Catia?

RE: Exploded views in UG NX3

While in modeling - Assemblies -> Exploded Views -> Create Explosion.  Yoe then move components in that view to their new location.

RE: Exploded views in UG NX3

Before you go into explosions I would recommend saving a new view named "explosion" or something like that.  The explosion gets associated to whatever view you're in.  Yes..you can turn the explosion on and off...but I've found it a lot less of a pain if you do your explosion in it's own view.  Example...I had to make some changes to some drawings a very long time ago.  I open the drawing and all of the imported "front" views are messed up...parts missing...parts moved...etc.  So I go into modelling....everything is fine.  Well....it took some time to figure out that whoever had worked on it before me had exploded the "front" view after creating the drawing.  When I was going into modelling I wasn't in the "front" view so I wasn't seeing the explosion.  Ever since then I create a new view named "explosion" and create my explosions while in that view to avoid any such mishaps.

Take care...

Hellbent is right.  It is poor practice to change a canned view.
