NC Programming
NC Programming
(OP)
Anyone have any thoughts on the future of NC programming software, specificly for high-end aerospace type work. Seems like Unigraphics used to be standard for programming complex 5-axis aerostructures, but now it seems like more military and comercial aircraft design work is being done in Catia. It seems like Catia has really stepped their game up as far as 5-axis NC programming goes. Not trying to start a "software A is better than software B war". I am just curious on what you guys think.

wish i could contribute some factual information to this discussion, but i just work at a small manufacturing firm that is calcitrantly divided between UG and Catia...
i think one major factor that is putting more of the nc manufacturing spotlight on catia is the fact that catia v5(at release ~15) is finally 'up to par'
i know back during catia releases 7&8 it was an absolute beast to use, and that many catia v4 operators shunned it...i think now that v4 and v5 are 'playing a little better' together maybe it is finally gaining acceptance
