Hello, I'd like some help in developing a theoretical model of heat transfer and thermal time constant for a small combustion chamber.

The system consists of a cylindrical chamber, bounded by a stainless steel body where Vbody >> Vchamber. Gases used are a stoichiometric mix of hydrogen and oxygen, although I could use the proporties of air for simplication of the problem. I can calculate the approx amount of energy released from my gas mixture.

I'm unsure how to go about creating a model to determine the heat loss to surrounding material and also the temperature T, for T(x,t) where x relates to depth into the body and t is the time after the inital release of energy. Where the energy release is non-continuous (one-off pulse).

I've already accumulated the various parameters I think I need, such as thermal conductivity, diffusivity, heat capacity. I don't know how to determine the heat transfer coefficient though, if necessary for my model.

I don't have access to library at the moment, so any advice would be appreciated.
