ASTM F593 bolting

(OP)
Unclesyd in thread794-87219 said F593 bolts can replace ASTM A193 B8 bolts. Is there documentation or even better an ASME reference that supports this?

RE: ASTM F593 bolting

Don't know for sure, but comparing in a catalog, I see A193 bolts with heavy hex. heads whereas F593 have standard hex. head. So, probably not for all cases.
Maybe you can find dual-listed bolts in a more complete catalog, as it makes sense that A193 bolts could meet F593 requirements (for same alloy & fabrication).

Although it doesn't answer this particular question, there is a useful booklet on SS fasteners at http://www.ssina.com/view_a_file/fasteners.pdf

RE: ASTM F593 bolting

I don't believe that ASME B&PV Codes permit the use of ASTM F593 fasteners.
