Price of TITANIUM 6Al4V ELI

TITANIUM 6Al4V ELI

My company buys this grade to use for medical implants (according to ASTM-F136 or ISO 5832-3).

Does anyone have an update on the situation regarding price and expected delivery time? And what to expect in the next 2-5 years?

We use plates of about 35mm thickness, and lets say 10m2 every year.

And what would be the expected difference between buying directly from the producer, or from a stock somewhere?

I would also like to know what the difference in price and delivery time would be between the normal Grade 5 and the Grade 5 ELI. (I see some people call this Grade 23, but the term to use now is Grade 5 ELI, isn't it??)

And one final question: Does anyone have some information of different producers or supplyers of this kind of plates around the world. I hear China is the Big Fish in this area? (But they also use the most dont they?)

I've heard an example of buying a plate of 10m2 t=35mm Ti6Al4V ELI, with deliverytime of 18 months and price 90$ per kilo. And that some producers don't even take any orders at the moment. How does this sound to you?

I'm pretty new in this area, so any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You very much in advance!

RE: Price of TITANIUM 6Al4V ELI

Well, to get you started, a couple of weeks ago I saw a price for standard Ti-6-4 to an aero spec and it was $55/lb for thick plate (~4"). Ti seems to be going up in the short term.
