corrosion of carbon steel flange
corrosion of carbon steel flange
(OP)
Due to an error in wall thickness calculations we have two pipelines connected together with a difference of 16mm. this crates an 8mm raised lip on one side.
The fluid is a warm brine produced water highly corrosive fluid with a reasonable amount of dissolved iron, the system is designed to avoid ingrss of oxygen.
My question is: will this lip create turbulance and/or induce a bacterial growth area and hence become a corrosion mechanism.

Corrosion, every where, all the time.
Manage it or it will manage you.

As others have stated - reducing turbulance will only help.
