Plagerism on the web

Plagerism on the web

6
(OP)
I freely admit that I copied this from another web forum.

How many discussion forum posters does it take to change a lightbulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

7 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs

5 to flame the spell checkers

3 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

15 know-it-alls who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct

19 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum

11 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this forum

36 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty

7 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

4 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group

13 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"

5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

13 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again.

RE: Plagerism on the web

Not only am I a lurker, I have used the moniker lurkingmore very recently but this time I will get my licks in firstly.

Beautiful post Mint!  Since I can't (cannot, can'not, can not -- can't figure out which is best) give stars, just picture a light bulb being turned on.

I certainly resemble some of the remarks in that list.

RE: Plagerism on the web

Six posters just to say "Good post!" and adding letters "LOL" to end their mammoth exercises.

One poster recounts how this thread reminds him of his lightbulb-shopping-experience and the assistant handed him nightbulb instead of lightbulb due to accent-problem.

Ciao.

RE: Plagerism on the web

If the post was on Slashdot[Slashdot.org]...

8 more posters complaining that the original poster's website was crippled due to traffic within 15 seconds of being slashdotted, and providing links to copies made from google's cache.

RE: Plagerism on the web

And 1 poster to point out that the light switch was actually off and the original light bulb was in perfect working condition.

metman,

So why can't you give stars?

So very curious...

RE: Plagerism on the web

Don't forget, they are not really light bulbs. They are "darksuckers".

RE: Plagerism on the web

Didn't we have a thread on dark suckers just a little while ago?

RE: Plagerism on the web

vpl-

I don't really know.  It must be a genetic thing because every time I try to click on tne link, I get like a nervous tick making me flinch away from the link.

Just kidding.  In fact, after my IP made their last upgrade, , one of the improvements was that I no longer have access to some functions on the web e.g. when I click on the star-giver thingy, it just sounds plink and a tiny little red hand momentarily appears in place of my ordinarily arrow cursor.  This is the same response that I get on other non-functional links like some links provided with posts.

If I call my internet provider that charge me about $2.00 US per minute unless I threaten to dump them.

I guess it's time to threaten again.

RE: Plagerism on the web

metman - It sounds like a case of an overzealous pop-up blocker!

RE: Plagerism on the web

Thanks Core and Just.  I actually wrote that down so now I have some tekkytalk to throw at 'em when I when call to threaten so they will think maybe I have a clue -- in every sense of the word.

overzealous -- could not have described it better.  I had already checked my virus scanner but I'm almost illiterate on some of these computer programs and won't bore you any more with the gory details here.  Maybe on a computer forum if things do not improve after threatening.

RE: Plagerism on the web

If it's your computer settings which are "at fault", no amount of "threatening" will help. Disabling Java Scripts is actually a security improvement.

I believe it is spelled plagiarism. My 1931 dictionary said so also.

Yes, I watited to see if anyone else said so.
