Does anyone know if it is possible to show threads in 3D drawings?  And if so, what are the commands to utilize in doing so?

RE: Threading

Hi Mikegmw,

You can, you'll need to create them yourself though.  Go to either www.caddepot.com or www.cadshack.com and search for sprial.lsp or 3dspiral.lsp.  This will create a 3dpoly line spiral.  You'll use this to extrude your threads for your bolt.

RE: Threading

spiral and 3dspiral only can draw round profiled spirals
like roun wire springs

RE: Threading

You can create a closed polyline of an involute shape and then extrude this along the spiral to make the thread.  You really have to want or need it to go through all that trouble.
