RAM and STAAD
RAM and STAAD
(OP)
Did anyone hear that RAM and STAAD have both been acquired by Bentley? Is this good or bad for software users like us?
When was the last time you drove down the highway without seeing a commercial truck hauling goods?

Bently acquiring STAAD

RE: RAM and STAAD
As far as their design products, I know nothing. Well, except for STAAD now, but I haven't even used that in about three years.
RE: RAM and STAAD
Keep in mind that my company pays nearly a thousand dollars for STAAD maintenance package. This fee is supposed to cover the cost and all upgrades. This year we did not get one minute of technical support nor an upgrade in return!

RE: RAM and STAAD
They have recently purchased REI and all of it's products including STAAD.
RE: RAM and STAAD
Thankfully, I don't have to live with staad. Few clients will request anything to do with that overblown frame analysis software.
Overall, I find this very disappointing.

As far as will Bentley buying REI be good or bad for STAAD, how could it be worse?
RE: RAM and STAAD
I think this will be a good thing for our clients. This will make available to us a wide range of resources, and we have already had meetings to begin sharing those resources. I expect that our clients will be seeing more new features more quickly. We will still be supporting Autocad.
I don't think our clients will be disappointed, but as always, we want to know how we are doing. If anyone has a bad experience because of the changes, we want to know.
