I WAS WONDERING HOW TO GET THE HM-HD FONT FROM AUTOCAD INTO SOLIDWORKS.

RE: FONTS

If it is a True-Type font, all you should need to do is copy it to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts folder, and it should automatically be available for SW.

RE: FONTS

The HM-HD font is a shx font and I think it is a autodesk thing. I am trying covert autocad R14 drawings into Solidworks 2006 but all of the Fonts are not the same. Let me know if there is an easier way to bring the drawing in without affecting the font types.

RE: FONTS

If the font is not True type then SW will not bring it in. Find a TTF with the font you want to use in SW and then you can use it.

RE: FONTS

Is there any way I can use the existing fonts from AutoCad that are not True Type Fonts, I have alot of Drawings to convert and that is alot of changing. I also have a spacing issue. When I bring AutoCad R14 Files into SolidWorks 2006, The Font remains the same but the spacing and width varies and it extend way past where it should be. Is there any easy way to fix this rather than changing every drawing that comes into Solidworks. Everyone input is much appreciated. Thanks for the input SBaugh and CorBlimeyLimey

RE: FONTS

What is your purpose in converting the AutoCAD drawings to SolidWorks drawings?

For updating legacy AutoCAD drawings, DWGeditor, which ships with SolidWorks, will probably be a better tool than the SolidWorks drawing package.  As an example, DWGEditor supports the shx fonts.

For using existing parts in new designs within SolidWorks, you need to recreate the existing parts as 3D models within SolidWorks to achieve the majority of the benefits of working in SolidWorks.
