Rendering weld beads in Photoworks

Rendering weld beads in Photoworks

Rendering weld beads in Photoworks

(OP)
Just a quick welcome and background as this is my first post after having lurked for a couple of weeks while finding some useful information. I have only been on Solidworks for 3 weeks now but want/need to take it as far as I can. I am working on a fairly ambitious first project of building a motorcycle in Solidworks and building a photoalbum of renders once it is done.

My question pertains to Photoworks and how people may render weld beads in it. In its default state, Solidworks applies a nice looking "lapped" weld texture to a weld feature, which is more than good enough for what I am doing, but does not retain that texture into Photoworks rendering. Do I need to build a new texture/decal and bring that into the Photoworks and apply it to surfaces or is there a pre-built way of doing this that I am missing in my inexperience?

Photoworks\Options\Use Solidworks Materials

IF that does not do it then you may need to make an apply a decal to the welds.

RE: Rendering weld beads in Photoworks

You will need to create your own material or decal in PhotoWorks to do this.  You could use the same image file SolidWorks uses for its weldment material.  You will have to search fo it in the SolidWorks install folder.
