Ordinate change with UCS Move

Ordinate change with UCS Move

A beginners question...
After measuring and drawing a complex array of holes I noticed that the -X and -Y ordinates did not display with the negative signs.  After looking for that option for a while I figured I could fix it by moving the UCS so all ordinates would be positive.  To my surprise, the measurements did not change relative to the UCS Move.  Should they or do I not have that option with Autocad LT 2005?

I can't believe all of the ordinates would have to be re-Dimensioned.

Thanx in advance, Steve with two weeks experience...

So is my question poorly phrased or just too simple for the group.  We can't improve without input...Steve

RE: Ordinate change with UCS Move

I had to check HELP as we don't use Ordinate dimensioning. I find that ordinate values are not supposed to update with a UCS change, in face it says in Help to set UCS origin to the part you are dimensioning, as you may well have multiple part origins/datums in a drawing.  So as far as I can tell, yes you'll have to re-dimension.  Or edit the negative values with a leading "-".

RE: Ordinate change with UCS Move

We stretch the 0,0 point on ord dims to get them to update. Select the dims you want to change, highlight the 0,0 grip, and then drag it to where you want.

Thank you Borg,
That works!  It's going to take some practice for me to do it reliably but I got it right once out of several attempts.  Lot's to learn but it's fun.  I'm using the manual that came with the ACLT but tomorrow a big one will arrive.
Thanx all!
