copying shortcuts
copying shortcuts
(OP)
I am reposting this question, as I had asked in the wrong forum.
I have a various project directories I want to backup, many with shortcuts to PDF datasheets located on a different network drive. I want to backup the actual PDF file, not the shortcut LNK file.
Anyone know of a software program / utility that will copy/backup a directory, but follow shortcut links and grab the target of the shortcut, instead of the .LNK file?
I've searched far and wide (well, Google, Tucows, etc.), without any luck.
I am in the process of testing out a WWW site ripper as suggested by another member, but I don't hold out much hope of success. I don't think shortcuts are treated the same way as html links.
Any help / suggestions would be appreciated.
Gary

RE: copying shortcuts
if so,
1. right click on the *.lnk files
2. click on "properties"
3. click on "find target" which will open the related file window.
4. right click on the file & copy&paste it to another drive for backing up.
