Building over geothermal wells

Building over geothermal wells

Building over geothermal wells

(OP)
Has anyone had any experience with building paved streets, parking lots, or very small storage buildings, 10'x10', over geothermal wells?  Is there any structure at the surface of the well, if not, how much cover should there be to the top of the pipe?

RE: Building over geothermal wells

Usuall there isn't anything at the surface of geothermal wells(I'm assuming your talking about ground source heat pumps) and the line to the structures are usually buried below the frost line so the depth could vary according to your area. The only issue I see is that local or state regulations may require the well to overdrilled and grouted if for some reason ist's ever taken out of service.  Then you might have an issue.
