(OP)
Hi all,

lets us share some of the innovative ideas that we encounter or we have seen in manufacturing environment, job shops etc. So that we can implement the same ideas/solutions or improvise the ideas/solutions in our work place. Its all in the name of Continuous Improvement

Thanks

RE: improvement ideas

koeskoes,

That is what this whole website is about but broken up into areas of interest. A warehousing facility could care less about machining questions. Plastic/composite manufacturing could care less about metals.

Describe what your company does and tell me where you have the greatest opportunities.

RE: improvement ideas

True innovations are (understandably) often treated as the proprietary intellectual property of the innovator/company, offering them a competitive advantage.

RE: improvement ideas

Patenting an innovation requires publically docmenting and disclosing the details of the patented item/process.  It's primary value is in granting the patent holder the right to sue for patent infringement (e.g. NTP vs. BlackBerry).  Patent violations relating to manufacturing methods are much nore difficult to detect, and the disclosure involved in the patent process means that many companies deliberately choose not to patent certain innovations, but to instead jealously guard them as "trade secrets".

RE: improvement ideas

Is there any information on creating tool libraries in UG NX3 that can also be used by the purchasing dept to order and control tools. Can UG take a text file description of the tool which could be imported and used in the mfg. operations ?

quintid:

You need to start a new thread with your new question in the appropriate forum (perhaps the UG forum: forum561).
