"Free Surfaces" in CATIA V4

"Free Surfaces" in CATIA V4

(OP)
Could someone tell me what is considered to be a free surface or free curve or free point in CATIA.  I've never seen that name for any features...

Thanks for any hints on what it might be.

RE: "Free Surfaces" in CATIA V4

"Nothing is free, when it comes to CATIA"

I've never heard that term before, so I guessing that it means it's isolated - it's no longer linked to it's parent geometry.

RE: "Free Surfaces" in CATIA V4

I actually thought that it meant FreeForm... (in V4, NET surfaces)
