I have a weird problem that started recently.  I have configurations of assemblies, and configurations of parts for that assembly. I color-coordinate the parts for the configuration to make it quicker to identify them.

The problem is that if I modify a dimension of the part and rebuild, I lose the color of the part.  The colors of the parts in the assemblies are not overridden at the assembly-level.  Has anyone else had this problem?

On a side note: Those here just leave the parts the default color.  How many of you bother using colors on your parts?

RE: 2006 SP2 colors

I used colors at the part level. If your parts are changing colors, it could be a video card/display problem.

Nope, I don't think it's the video card.  I've been on this forum long enough to keep up-to-date with the approved drivers found on the Solidworks website.  I've used colors on parts in SW04 and SW05 without any problems, I was just wondering if SW accidently screwed this up while fixing other problems.

RE: 2006 SP2 colors

I do! I'm using SW05 though and have no problems. I try to simulate the finished part. e.g. Black anodized, yellow alodine, white paint, etc, just to get a rough idea how the finished product will look.

I assume you have SW certified video card & driver for SW06 & OS.

RE: 2006 SP2 colors

I use colors, but not assembly-specific colors (too confusing).

Check to see whether you have the new Display States messing with your colors (in assemblies).  This is meant to allow quick changes of displays (parts hidden, colored, etc.) and I would think there is either an accidental misuse of this feature or perhaps a bug with the feature in your assembly.
