hydrotest

A quick heads up on Hydrotest. Looking for any approved methods that have test time <24hrs duration, suitable for large diameter onshore pipelines (test section length max 4km). Refs for standards or company approved methods would be usefull. Thanks.

RE: hydrotest

If it's a pipeline then if in the UK the test duration is 24hrs-No less.

RE: hydrotest

Not UK based pipeline. Raised a related question to this on 21 Nov. Currently using Shell approved method but cold temperatures are really unforgiving for the allowable DP and data collection is almost untenable. The last test took 5 days - first two days pure stabilisation. I am interested how other people may of got round this and what approved methods/standards were used. This would really be test method for winter.

RE: hydrotest

For water pipelines using the water loss method the duration is 1 hour (based on WRc (Water Research Council) "A guide to testing of water supply pipelines and sewer mains". I only have the 1st Edition dated 1999, but EN805 is mentioned.

This does not apply to PE pipe, which creeps and has a different regime, (also described in the document).

Hope this helps

RE: hydrotest

This would depend on what code you are working to & whether any Federal or state rules override the ASME code.

B31-4 & API RP1110 the min. time for the Hydro. test is 4hours after stabilisation and pump is isolated.
