Radar level gauge

Radar level gauge

(OP)
anyone have experience with radar level gauges? I am trying to find a good vendor but have never dealt with these before.

Thanks

RE: Radar level gauge

Saab makes great ones.  What service?  Some services are more difficult than others or are best suited to different radar gauge technologies.

Thanks TD2K.  The gauge is for a hazardous waste tank.  I am on the Saab website right now.  Which features are most important when selecting the right gauge?

RE: Radar level gauge

Most of the magnetic level gauge manufacturers like Magnetrol and others offer guided wave radar as an attached feature for use as a level transmitter.  Ohmart Vega offer open and guided wave radar level transmitters.  These are very competitive with Rosemount Emerson Process Saab etc.  Some require external power; some work from the 24 Vdc associated with the 4-20 mA signal power.  Open radar includes cones and rods with associated issues related to the vessel design.

Watch for material compatibility with both the metalurgy and soft goods that contact the fluid.

Also consider magnetostrictive level instruments if dealing with light hydrocarbons with a dielectric constant too low to use radar.

RE: Radar level gauge

I agree with John on the general aspects of guided wave radars - you should however be aware that the guided wave is NOT "touch-free" as a "normal" radar is.

Best regards

RE: Radar level gauge

Enraf also makes a good product.

As always, be sure to check their appovals, certifications, etc. to ensure if meets your requirements.

RE: Radar level gauge

Also try Endress & Hausser for any type level application.

Drexelbrook also.....

Ashereng,
Do you mean Enraf also have radar level gauge? Please advise me.

RE: Radar level gauge

PAN,

Yes, Enraf has radar level guage.

Their web site is www.enraf.com.
