In case of air cooler of carbon steel tubes with aluminum fins , operating at 130F, what kind of painting should be provided on fin tubes to protect from enviornment or there should not be any coating.

Thanks for

RE: Painting for fin tubes of air cooler

I would not recommend any surface coating. The coating will reduce heat transfer of the aluminum fins.

pve5,
What is your specific problem in your case? Please clarify.

If your equipment is in severe corrosive environment, you may consider to select other tube materials. However, this will be higher cost.

RE: Painting for fin tubes of air cooler

pve5,
make sure your Al grade fits the enviromental atmosphere and do not bother about painting.

Galvanic corrosion issues at the aluminum/steel interface?

RE: Painting for fin tubes of air cooler

The galvanic issue is not so bad because the heat keeps it dry. Sometimes bit of aluminum paint is used.
It's a good idea to periodically spray rinse with DI water to remove dirt from joints & to keep the fins clean.
