Circuit breaker
Circuit breaker
(OP)
I have a question about Circuit breaker.
Cutler hammer Circuit breaker, 600V,15A, 100KAIC,3POLE.
What does 100KAIC mean? 100KA inrush current?
Sorry for I'm not experienced. I take this BBS as my teacker:)

RE: Circuit breaker
This does not mean that it actually can interrupt 100 000 amperes. It means that it can interrupt a short circuit current if it is connected to a grid with 100 kA short circuit current capacity.
The explanation to this paradox is that there is enough impedance in the circuit breaker to limit the actual short circuit current to a safe value that the breaker can interrupt without exploding.
