Non-circular compression spring (magazine retention springs)

Non-circular compression spring (magazine retention springs)

I am looking for the formulas for the design and analysis of non-circular compression spring similar to the retention springs used in fire arms bullet magazines. I could not find any information in common spring design books such as from Wahl, Chironis, Berry, SPEC etc. I can develop the formulations myself but want to compare with published information.

RE: Non-circular compression spring (magazine retention springs)

ISRAELKK:
Magazine springs are not compression springs in the way that we usually think of them.  They are more like flat beams that bend at the ends.  The loading across the top flat leaf of the spring may or may not be uniform depending on the type of ammunition.

You may want to try a gunsmith or contact gun and / or magazine manufacturer's

I am referring to springs made of coiled round wire except that the spring body is not circular but more like a rectangle or polygon.
