Beam Section Dimensions as Design Parameters

Beam Section Dimensions as Design Parameters

Beam Section Dimensions as Design Parameters

(OP)
I'm using Pro/Mech Wildfire 2.0 build M150 in integrated mode and I'm trying to run a design study to optimize a dimension in the section of an idealized beam. When I go to the design paramter creation dialog box I get the option to create a parameter based on a section dimension but the sections in the model don't appear in the next dialog box. Did a search on the PTC knowledgebase and didn't get any useful info.

Any help greatly appreciated.

RE: Beam Section Dimensions as Design Parameters

It only works when the beam section you have chosen is a Sketched section.

Doing it this way also allows you to establish section relations, which means that only a single design parameter can be changed, and the other dimensions adjust accordingly. This should greatly reduce the number of design parameters to be optimized.

Thanks justkeepgiviner,
once I changed the section to a sketch it worked perfectly.
