Layer states in drawing with XRef

Layer states in drawing with XRef

(OP)
Using R2005, I have a (child) drawing that is XRef'ed into several other (parent) drawings.  In each of the parent drawings, different VPorts are used for details of different parts of the child drawing.  For each parent VPort, a different set of layers is frozen.  The trouble is that whenever I open a parent drawing, the VPorts show all XRef layers and I have to freeze them all over again.  I tried to use the layer states manager but it did not help.  Is there a way to stop this from happening?

RE: Layer states in drawing with XRef

Do the layer settings change in modelspace as well?  This is controlled by setting VISRETAIN to 1.

RE: Layer states in drawing with XRef

VisRetain set to 1 took care of it.
Many, many thanks!!
